Stephen Tanner City of Plano Assistant to the City Manager | Olga Nowlan University of Texas at Arlington Student |
What lead you to this career? I started out in journalism. In college and right after college, I worked for NPR affiliate covering local government issues. This opportunity gave me a great background into how local government functions. I was able to apply for a position in the City of Plano Marketing Department in 2013, working as Sr. Marketing Coordinator, focusing on social media for the city. In 2016, I began working on my MPA at UT Dallas, which helped prepare me for my position as the Assistant to the City Manager, which I began in February of 2019. Tell us more about yourself, Stephen! | What energizes you outside of work? Sewing, bike riding, and boot camp workouts are what give me energy. I enjoy creating my own sewing patterns and making things for my family. I own two regular sewing machines and an embroidery machine. I will soon teach myself how to crochet. This is awesome Olga, tell us more. |

What’s your proudest accomplishment from 2019? Definitely being the first person to graduate college in my family, I could not have done it without God and incredible support I have received from my family and mentors within the ACU community! Please share more about yourself, Kevin. | What question should we have asked? What’s the answer? What I want to do with this degree after I graduate? The answer would be I want to go into human resource management and then down the road take all that I have learned through my coursework and job experiences, and create my own non-profit organization. How exciting Bora, tell us more! |
