If you haven’t typed www.umant.com into your browser, now is good time to take a look. In January, UMANT updated its website to give you a crisp look, more intuitive organization, and updated content. Want to see something on the website, but it isn’t there? Email Caitlan Smelley at csmelly@addisontx.gov and let her know how we can make the website even better.

We heard you. In the fall of 2015, UMANT distributed a member survey as a check-up on how the organization is doing. We wanted to know what we were doing well, what opportunities we were missing, and perhaps more importantly, if there were any areas in which the organization wasn't coming through for its members. As it turns out, we learned quite a bit.

While I encourage the curious to view the entire survey results HERE, the message that UMANT leadership took home was that we absolutely need to pay attention to two key areas in order to serve our members:

    • First, we must ensure your UMANT membership is valuable, something that contributes to your professional growth, and not just a line item on a resume.
    • Second, we must ensure we maintain a friendly and inviting atmosphere - especially for our new members.

These two concepts drove our discussions at the Executive Committee strategic planning meeting, ultimately resulting in a new focus area for 2016: Growth. This isn't a superficial goal meant to simply drive up membership numbers, but a perspective through which we can view everything we do. Orienting our plans, events, and communications toward retaining our current members and adding new ones will drive UMANT to become more creative, more engaging, and provide an incredible value to you, the members. By focusing on growth, we have to ensure we are reinventing ourselves as a stronger and more impactful organization.

On behalf of the 2016 Executive Committee, we look forward to serving you in 2016. If I can ever do anything to make your UMANT experience better, please don't hesitate to reach out to me.
